Invest half an hour now in a Lone Star College-CyFair library tour to gain insight into essential resources for a semester of success in your classes and a chance to win prizes.
LSC-CyFair’s “Pop-in Library Tour” program, which won the 2019 Texas Library Association Library Instruction Round Table (LIRT) Project of the Year Award, returns Jan. 24-27, Jan. 31-Feb. 3 and Feb. 7-10.
“These three weeks of introductory tours are provided to help reduce barriers of library anxiety for students and community patrons alike,” said Liz Nebeker, reference librarian. “The tours cover library resources and services available to assist with classroom and community project success. Come learn ‘where to do what’ in the library and meet our librarians who are ‘expert resources’ here to serve you.”
This award-winning program offers 30-minute or less tours at the beginning of each semester. Tours are available 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. Mondays and Tuesdays, 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays and 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. Thursdays. (The last tour begins 20 minutes before the tour session ends.)
No registration is necessary, just meet at the ID Card Station at the library entrance near the Technology Building.
Full-time librarians will lead small group tours to foster more engagement and discussion. Attendees who complete these high-impact library orientation tours are entered into prize drawings.
One of the largest branches in the Harris County Public Library system and the largest campus in the LSC system, LSC-CyFair’s library is a joint-use community college and public library located on the LSC-CyFair campus at 9191 Barker Cypress.
