The recent national mortgage crisis has brought to the forefront the need for more public education on buying a home, improving credit scores, and planning for the largest purchase most people will make in their lifetimes-"the American dream" of owning your own home. To meet that need, Lone Star College-North Harris and Ryland Homes are partnering to host a series of free informational workshops open to students and the community. Sessions will cover how to buy your first home, save on home energy bills, and improve you financial credit score (myth versus reality on how to raise your credit score). All sessions will be hosted on the LSC-North Harris campus in the Academic Building, room A-126. The upcoming workshops are:
Feb 28: "Learn How to Buy Your First Home," 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. and 6 to 7 p.m.
Apr. 22: "Tired of High Energy Bills?" 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.
Apr. 24: "How to Improve Your Financial Credit Score," 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. and 6 to 7 p.m.
The college is located at 2700 W.W. Thorne Drive, one-half mile south of FM 1960 E, between Aldine-Westfield and Hardy Roads. For more information about the workshops or the college, call 281.618.5400 or visit: NorthHarris.LoneStar.edu.
