There is still time for students to register for the Fall 2021 semester at Lone Star College-University Park. Shorter-length Next Start courses are scheduled to begin the week of Monday, Sept. 13, for the 14-week session; Monday, Sept. 27, for the 12-week session; and Wednesday, Oct. 27, for the eight-week session. Next Start courses, which are offered in both in-person and virtual formats, end the week of December 13 – at the same time as full-semester classes.
Next Start courses are a convenient alternative for students who need flexibility with their schedules. Like traditional-length classes, Next Start classes enable students to pursue university transfer, an associate degree, or a workforce certification with a schedule that works for them.
Dr. Shah Ardalan, LSC-University Park President, emphasized that many students need additional time to start their fall semester due to the pandemic or other personal commitments.
“Providing this flexibility gives students additional opportunities to pursue their educational goals, and it allows them to complete their academic work on time,” said Ardalan. “As the community’s college, our dedicated faculty and staff provide access to quality, convenient and affordable education for the populations we serve. Next Start courses begin throughout the year so that our students can continue to make progress toward their goals.”
Next Start offerings accommodate a variety of schedules, and students can choose from more than 350 courses in art appreciation, business, communication, computer programming, drama, engineering, English, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), geology, government, history, math, music, psychology, sociology, speech, and more.
LSC-University Park offers free academic advising, tutoring, financial aid assistance, career advisement and counseling. Specialized services are available to veterans, international students and students needing ADA accommodations.
Students can register for Next Start courses until the first day of the class. Visit LoneStar.edu/StartUP for more information.
