Shiza Rubab first enrolled at Lone Star College-North Harris hoping to save money and transfer to a four-year university. Now, she is among the nearly 200 national Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society members to receive the 2021 Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholarship.

Rubab received the $1,000 scholarship as a result of her outstanding commitment to academic achievement, community service, and leadership. Rubab was selected as a recipient out of more than 900 applicants nationwide. The scholarship benefits PTK members enrolled in associate degree programs with educational expenses.

“This scholarship calmed my worries,” Rubab said. “When I enrolled, I desired to earn as many credits as possible to transfer to a four-university, but thinking about book supplies, class tuitions, and devices bothered me. This scholarship has brought me relief, and I am immensely gratified by this recognition.”  

The scholarship will help Rubab complete her Associate of Arts degree at LSC-North Harris before transferring to a four-year university to study interior design.
