Robotics process automation, a software robot designed to complete a series of tasks on your computer automatically and more efficiently, is being integrated into a new Accounting elective this fall at Lone Star College-North Harris.
Accounting 1392 is part of the Accounting Associate of Applied Science program, requires no prerequisites, and introduces students to the new software changing the way companies work.
“This software is already being used and implemented by the big four accounting firms,” says Julie Duncan, assistant professor, Accounting. “Recent estimates indicate that automation will impact 94% of accounting careers. It is important for students to understand this technology and view it as a partner in their future careers.”
Students enrolled in the course will learn how to use the software to read websites and take information to fill out Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, Word documents, send emails, and more.
Fall registration continues at LSC-North Harris, offering more than 30 programs to choose from, including associate degrees and certifications in a wide variety of subjects, a bachelor’s degree in construction management, and many university transfer courses – all at an affordable price.
