LSC-Montgomery Emergency Medical Services (EMS) students achieved a 100% pass-rate of the National Registry exam for the level at which they have been trained.

"Becoming a paramedic is no easy task,” said Dr. Kelly Weller, LSC-Montgomery EMS director. “It takes dedication, drive and a willingness to step out of one’s comfort zone and embrace the idea that every day is the opportunity to do something that you have never done before.”

Paramedics respond to emergency calls, performing medical services and transporting patients to medical facilities. Their work can be physically strenuous and stressful, sometimes involving life-or-death situations including emergencies such as car crashes, natural disasters and acts of violence.

“The LSC-Montgomery faculty really cared about producing successful and intelligent paramedics,” said Madison LeBlanc, LSC-Montgomery EMS graduate. “They definitely prepared me for my new career at Cy Fair Fire Department.”

All paramedics must first become an emergency medical technician which takes 12-16 weeks to complete. The LSC paramedic program has start times in January and June each year and provides a four-semester cohort-based model so students who start in January will graduate with their certificate in May of the following year.

“No matter what the challenge is, a paramedic maintains sharply honed skills and a level of professionalism equal to whatever situation presents itself,” said Weller.

In addition to the success of the LSC-Montgomery EMS students, Licensed Vocational Nurses and Medical Radiologic Technology students also achieved a 100% pass rate this past December.
