HOUSTON – Lone Star College-University Park is offering both in-person and virtual student services during the upcoming winter break to make sure its students are prepped and ready for the upcoming Spring 2021 semester. Whether online or in-person, staff members will offer several services over the holiday break for students to stay on track during 2021.
LSC-University Park is making services like Advising and Admissions, Records and Transcripts, Financial Aid, Information Center, Assessment Center, and Office of Technology Service available virtually and in-person from Dec. 21-23. In-person hours are 9 a.m.-2 p.m. From Dec. 28-30, these same services will be offered virtually as well. The Business Office will be available remotely to support students during both weeks of the break, Monday-Wednesday, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Additionally, the Student Learning Resource Center (SLRC) will be offer virtual services for those enrolled in the winter mini-mester. The college will be closed Dec. 24-27, Dec. 31, and Jan. 1-3.
"We are fully dedicated to student success at LSC-University Park,” said LSC-University Park President Dr. Shah Ardalan. “Just because we're enjoying our holiday break doesn't mean we're taking any breaks from supporting our students. Whether they're just starting out, or getting ready to graduate at the end of the semester, we're here along the way. We hope students will take advantage of the services available to them to make sure they're prepared to start 2021 on a high note."
There's still plenty of time to sign up for Spring 2021 classes, which are scheduled to begin Tuesday, Jan. 19. Enrollment extends to the first day of each class. To better ensure the health and safety of students and employees, students can choose class formats – ranging from in-person, online, or a hybrid format that is a combination of both.
In-person, online and hybrid courses will be available across a variety of subjects, including accounting, art, biology chemistry, business, criminal justice, drama, economics, education, engineering, English, English for speakers of other languages, geology, government, history, math, machining, music, physical education, physics, psychology, sociology, Spanish, speech and more. Classes will take place in LSC-University Park's main academic buildings, Engineering & Manufacturing Institute (EMI) and Center for Science & Innovation. All facilities have employed thorough and regularly-scheduled sanitizing measures and classrooms have been optimized for social distancing.
