CYPRESS, Texas (Oct.15, 2020) Lone Star College-CyFair recently received a total of $1,485,992 in federal funding earmarked for development and improvement of academic programs for low-income students.

Funded through the U.S. Department of Education, the Strengthening Institutions Program (Title III) grant money is anticipated to be sustained for five years.

“The SIP grant will help support the success of students who need help in core subject areas,” said LSC-CyFair President Seelpa Keshvala. “These funds will be used to ensure they have access to everything needed to meet their academic goals.”

LSC-CyFair’s focus will be to increase corequisite Developmental Education Math enrollment by 6%, student persistence by 4%, and increase completion by 2.5%. The goal is to provide low-income students with the resources necessary to move them into core courses.?
