Registration is under way for the Lone Star College-Tomball 21st annual K9 Fun Run, sponsored by the Veterinary Technology Student Organization.
The event will be held Nov. 15 on the college campus beginning at 7:30 a.m. The VTSO will also be conducting a $5 rabies vaccination clinic from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the same day.
The VTSO has changed the name of the event this year to the VTSO Scarlett Scamper K9 Fun Run in honor of a six-time winner, the late canine Scarlett Younger.
Activities get under way at 7:30 a.m. with packet pick-up and late registration. The canine costume contest will be from.8: 45 a.m. to 9:10 a.m., and the one-mile race begins at 9:15 a.m. Dogs will be grouped according to weight. All dogs must have proof of current vaccinations to be eligible to participate.
Trophies will be awarded to first, second, and third place winners in each group as well as to one overall Grand Champion. The best costumed dog in each group also will win a trophy.
Registration fee is $15 through Nov. 13 and $18 thereafter. Minors entering their dogs must have parental consent. For registration information, please call 281-351-3358.
