The Lone Star College-Tomball l chapter of the Association of Texas Professional Educators-ATPE which is part of the Future Teacher Club has been selected as "Local Unit of the Year" at the Leadership U Conference held recently in Austin.
The selection was based on various accomplishments during the 2007-08 academic year including local unit management, membership growth, member services, services to the school and community, and political involvement. The LSC-Tomball club doubled its membership from the prior year and also brought the largest college group (25 members) in more than 30 years to the annual conference in March 2008.
Members attending the Leadership U Conference were Jeff Gregory, Ernest Mendez, Dane Torres and Trenka Hereford along with faculty sponsors Barbara Miller and Mary Ann Jackson.
Lone Star College-Tomball Future Teacher Club Fall 2008 officers who were unable to attend the conference were Lacey Walker, Stephanie Thomas, Ana Hernandez and Jessica Wilcox. Spring 2008 officers were Jaimie Monti and Ashley McDonald- These two students will be moving on to a four year university in the fall to continue their bachelor's degrees in teaching.
