Free tax help will be available Feb. 4 through April 15 at the Lone Star College-CyFair Branch Library, Room 131.
AARP Tax-Aide volunteers will be on site noon to 4 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays to assist taxpayers with middle- to low-income, particularly those ages 60 and older.
Attendees are urged to bring two new documents - the amount of stimulus payment received in 2008 and the amount of property taxes paid in 2008 even if not itemizing deductions in addition to the following documents:
Copy of last years income tax return(s)
W-2 forms from each employer
Unemployment compensation statements
SSA-1099 form if you were paid Social Security benefits
All 1099 forms (1099-INT, 1099-DIV, 1099-B) showing interest and/or dividends and documentation showing original purchase price of sold assets
1099-misc showing any miscellaneous income
1099-R form if you received a pension or annuity
All forms indicating federal income tax paid
Dependent care provider information (name, employer, ID, Social Security number)
All receipts or canceled checks if itemizing deductions
Social Security numbers for all dependents
