The Texas Association of Chicanos in Higher Education has selected Lone Star College-North Harris’ Dean of Student Services Ovidio Galvan for the inaugural Career and Leadership Development Institute.
Being recognized by TACHE as an up-and-coming Hispanic leader provides Galvan an opportunity to continue his work helping students while growing through new experiences himself.
“I am very excited to serve in the inaugural cohort of the TACHE Career and Leadership Development Institute,” Galvan said. “I am proud to have the support of Lone Star College-North Harris to participate in this opportunity and look forward to bringing what I have gained throughout my professional and educational career to the Institute as well as to learn from others across our region. As a Dean of Student Services at a Hispanic-serving institution, my hopes are to take what I will gain through my participation in this cohort and come back with more tools to help our students be successful.”
Galvan joins 11 other fellows and faculty from universities across the state to attend the Career and Leadership Development Institute. The institute is a year-long program designed to develop and foster Hispanic representation in higher education leadership.
