CONROE (October 2, 2019) – Lone Star College-Montgomery is excited to announce the third annual Data Camp with keynote speaker Ted Petrou. The author of Master Data Analysis with Python and founder of Dunder Data, Petrou is scheduled to kick-off Data Camp Friday, October 4, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Lone Star College-Montgomery campus.
Data Camp is a predictive analytics conference focusing on higher education. The purpose is to provide data science skills to professionals in the industry. The interactive sessions will show how analytics can improve student success by implementing strategies to get measurable results.
Founder of Data Camp, Vice President of Student Success Dr. Michael F. Chavez, created the conference to provide a unique experience for professionals. Conference participants learn first-hand from higher education experts who have successfully implemented analytics campaigns that have improved student enrollment, retention, and graduation. The interactive sessions at the conference will take participants through the entire process of gathering data, mining the data, analyzing the results, and implementing a strategy that will make a measurable difference.
“The purpose of Data Camp is for educators to learn from one another,” said Dr. Chavez. “It’s a day where we show participants how to incorporate data science and help students enroll in college, to be successful, and to graduate or transfer!”
Since it began three years ago, Data Camp has grown from 50 attendees to over 300 with a long waitlist. The conference attracts attendees from all over the U.S., including northern Texas, South Carolina, and Oklahoma. The growth is expected to continue, providing a comprehensive experience to higher education professionals nationwide to learn skills that aid in improving enrollment, persistence, retention, and graduation rates.
