It’s not too late to be impressed with the student talent displayed in the Lone Star College-CyFair’s Student Art Showcase.
“This semi-annual exhibition features the original work LSC-CyFair visual art students have completed in their fall classes,” said Bosque Gallery Director James Campbell. “The creativity we see in our student artwork is impressive and many pieces are available for purchase.”
On display are multi-media representation of drawings, two-dimensional design works, painting, ceramics and photography. Awards in each category were given at the opening reception, which also featured the LSC-CyFair String Ensemble’s classical selections performance.
This year’s Best of Show was Sarah Silver’s “The Hut of Baby Yaga” ceramic piece. First-place winners include Vicky Suarez’s “Deep in their Roots” drawing, Jovani Solares’s “Not a Substitute for Self-love” design, Catherine Salinas’s “Halcyon” painting, Gabriela Coba’s “Chess Turtle” ceramic art and “Urban Plague” photo.
Other student winners and honorable mentions were Jean Paul Cassanova, Tatiana Gonzalez and Angela Dick in drawing; Fabiola Denise Ramirez and Sarah Mendez in design; Adriana Herrera, Susana Morales, Ann Furhing and Sandra Hubein in painting; Alondra Celestino, Irina Zamotorina, Heather Silver and Melanie Vargas in ceramics; and Marco Sanchez, Genesis Sifuentes and Mylen Naranjo Diaz in photography.
“This semester’s showcase continues the tradition of displaying the amazing talent we have in our Art Department,” said Josh Estrada, Fine Arts Coordinator. “Come check out our students’ original works, through Dec. 12. And remember, a lot of the pieces are for sale.”
