HOUSTON, TX — Severo Balason, former assistant dean of enrollment services for North Harris College, was recently appointed as NHC’s dean of students effective January 2007.
Born, raised, and educated in the Philippines, Severo M. Balason, Jr. emigrated to the U.S. in 1987 to realize the American dream. His educational background and accomplishments include a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy and a Master’s Degree in Theology from the Divine Word Seminary, Graduate School of Philosophy and Theology, Tagaytay City, Philippines. In 1995, he completed a Summer Seminar on Academic Administration offered through Texas A&M University’s Department of Educational Administration.
Balason began his career in higher education as a Job Training Partnership Act Employment Specialist at NHMCCD District office in 1993 and subsequently assumed the position of associate director of admissions and evening and weekend administrator at the North Harris College campus in 1994. In 2004, he was promoted to assistant dean of enrollment services.
