Lone Star College-Westway Park Technology Center’s Visual Communication Department hosts “Vizually Expressed: Summer Edition” June 18 for those creative types wondering what’s next on their academic and career path.
“At LSC-Westway Park Technology Center, we believe in ‘igniting and exciting’ student interest and understanding in ways beyond traditional education,” said Professor of Graphic Arts, Kisha Cormier. “Come tour our new facility designed to mirror real-world environments.”
This new Center of Excellence features a Production Lab (ProLab) for Visual Communication students to learn how to work digitally with print items and add to their portfolios as they produce work for their respective classes and service learning initiatives with non-profit organizations.
Next door to the ProLab is the studio. This room allows students to photograph their work for their portfolio books & websites using provided equipment such as lights and cameras. The room also contains a green wall should a student need green screen capability.
“Don’t miss this opportunity to learn about our uniquely specialized Applied Science degree and certificate programs in which we prepare students for careers in design services, publishing, advertising, digital media technologies, website design, video production and related services,” said Cormier.
This summer Visual Communication open house, held from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m., includes information and advising assistance as well as promotional giveaways and light refreshments while supplies last.
