Calling Community Superhero Scholarship Candidates

Do you know a student that works as hard outside of the classroom as he or she does inside the classroom? Is that student your hero? That’s the type student that could win a $1,500 scholarship for their hard work and community commitment.

Lone Star College-North Harris students heavily involved in community service are encouraged to apply for The Community Superhero Scholarship.  Each year, D. Miller & Associates, PLLC awards a $1,500 scholarship to one deserving student who exemplifies what it means to be a hero to their community. The deadline to apply for the 2019 Community Superhero Scholarship is Thursday, June 30, 2019.

The basis of the Community Superhero Scholarship is to highlight a record of volunteerism and community service. Applicants must demonstrate a history of making a difference in the lives of others in their community.

“Getting out there and doing something good for your community is an enlightening supplement to a formal education,” said Darren A. Miller, founder and senior attorney at D. Miller & Associates, PLLC.

“The Community Superhero Scholarship will help a young person, who has dedicated their time to improving the lives of others, attend college and work towards their college degree.”

Students who organize, volunteer, raise money to benefit, or otherwise assist in the support and growth of community-based events or causes are encouraged to apply.

Qualified applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • 3.0 GPA
  • Enrolled in or accepted to an accredited college or university
  • Demonstrable history of community service and volunteerism
  • Submit an essay on the topic below
  • Submit an unofficial transcript
  • Agree to the scholarship terms and conditions listed on the scholarship website

Applicants must write a 500-1000 word essay answering the question: “How are you a superhero in your community?” The essay must describe the applicant’s community service participation and how it has made a difference in the lives of others in their community.

Applicants must fill out the online form found at https://dmillerlaw.com/community-superhero-scholarship/, and submit their unofficial transcript and essay in PDF format. Applications submitted after the June 30 deadline, or submitted in any manner other than by using the official website, will not be considered.
