April workshops cover true crime, carnivorous plants, alternative media art and minimalism at Lone Star College-CyFair.
The free Learning, Inspiration, Friendship and Enrichment (L.I.F.E.) programs are held Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the library (LRNC room 131 unless otherwise noted) at 9191 Barker Cypress.
- April 3 — If the Devil Had a Wife: A True Texas Tale
Author Rebecca Stark Nugent (AKA Frank Mills) tells all in her award-winning, true-crime book about this infamous Orange, Texas family named the Starks. Book signing follows.
- April 10 — Beyond the Venus Fly Trap
Just what are carnivorous plants and what makes them unique? Don Watson, hobbyist, shares his knowledge and interest in this unusual plant life.
- April 17 — Charcoal and Pastel Workshop
Artist and Professor Natalie Stovall demonstrates her art in this charcoal and pastel workshop with alternative media. Roll up your sleeves and give your own art a chance. We may even do some scratchboard art as well as citrasolv transfers.
- April 24 — The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up
It’s all the rage now to simplify your life by getting rid of material things. Librarians Regina Vitolo, Jen Crouse, and Rachel Hugenberg explore the history of minimalism and give some tips on just how to do it following Marie Kondo’s lead.
