TOMBALL, Texas –LSC-Tomball students, staff, faculty, and the Tomball-area community are invited to the TRiO Community Food Fair on Thursday, December 6 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Free, fresh produce and milk will be available from the Houston Food Bank. The Food Bank’s Mobile Pantry, an 18-Wheeler “farmer’s market on wheels,” will be located in the back of the south parking lot.
“We know this time of year can be especially busy and stressful due to the upcoming holidays and exams, and there is just so much going on. So this is an opportunity to provide some fresh fruits and vegetables to help make meal time more nutritious for our LSC-Tomball family,” said Carolina Redmond, a program advisor for TRiO.
TRiO Student Support Services is a federally funded grant program dedicated to helping first-generation students, economically disadvantaged students and students with disabilities. First-generation students are those who are the first in their family’s history to earn a higher education. The work done by TRiO Student Support Services program is reflected in the approximately 140 students served each year, their high graduation rate, higher grades, and acceptance and transfer to four-year universities.
The TRiO Community Food Fair event is first-come, first-served. Milk is limited to 3.5 gallons per family and is sponsored by the Houston Food Bank.
