This Saturday former Super Bowl Champion Spencer Tillman will address the graduates at Lone Star College-CyFair’s commencement ceremony.

His commitment and passion for developing leaders and serving the community was clearly evident when he so generously gave of his time and talent in offering master classes to our students earlier this year. Spencer’s message resonated so well with our students in attendance that we wanted more of our students to hear his inspiring message,” said LSC-CyFair President, Dr. Seelpa Keshvala.
Tillman, senior analyst for FOX Sports and former pro football player for the Houston Oilers and the San Franciso 49er’s, returns to motivate LSC-CyFair’s graduating class for the next step in their academic journey and future careers.
Prior to his pro football career, Tillman earned his bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Oklahoma where he was an All-American running back (1982–85) for the Sooners, as well as the captain of the 1985 National Championship team when it defeated Penn State, 25–10, in the Orange Bowl. In 1988, he earned his second bachelor’s in communication.
Earlier this spring, Tillman drew on his own experiences to share lessons about leadership and being competitive in the marketplace with LSC-CyFair students.
“The mindset to be successful in the 21st century is to see opportunity where others don’t. It’s all about how we view things,” he said during his master class, “The Lombardi Way: A Blueprint for Leading From Where You Are.”
Tillman hosted his master class for students and then brought in Lesley Visser for another master class, “Breaking Barriers,” which was held prior to the 2018 Lombardi Awards broadcast live from the LSC-CyFair campus.
LSC-CyFair has 2,792 graduates receiving their degree or certificate this year with 578 graduates expected to attend commencement, which is set for 9 a.m. Saturday, May 12 at the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District’s Berry Center, located at 8877 Barker Cypress. A graduation reception will follow at LSC-CyFair’s College Center, located at 9191 Barker Cypress Road.
