Lone Star College-CyFair’s Drama Department kicks off the fall performance season with an award-winning new free comedy Oct. 19-22.
LSC-CyFair adjunct drama instructor Carol Worsnop directs the comedy “Dead Man's Cell Phone,” which is written by Sarah Ruhl, a MacArthur "Genius Grant” recipient and Pulitzer Prize finalist.
Ruhl tells a story that begins with “An incessant ringing cell phone in a quiet café. A stranger at the next table who had had enough. And a dead man – with a lot of loose ends.”
Recognized in part for its originality, the comedy is about a woman forced to confront her own assumptions about morality, redemption, as well as the need to connect in a technologically-obsessed world.
Performances, set for 7:30 p.m. Oct. 19-21 and 3 p.m. Oct. 22, will be held in the Black Box Theatre, located in the Center for the Arts building at 9191 Barker Cypress.
