TOMBALL, Texas – Lone Star College-Tomball will host a Homeschool Social from 9 a.m. to noon, Nov. 7, at the LSC-Creekside Center.
“There will be food, snacks, opportunities to socialize and meet other homeschooled students, as well as review available classes and enrollment information,” said Erica Clark, LSC-Tomball Homeschool Dual Credit program manager. “There will be breakout sessions where advisors and faculty will be on hand to assist with questions and answers during these breakout sessions.”
At the breakout sessions, according to Clark, those in attendance will learn how to search for classes, find out about program plans offered at LSC-Tomball and LSC-Creekside Center, practice navigating the myLonestar student portal, and more.
“This also gives students an opportunity to submit all paperwork for proper enrollment,” Clark noted. “The homeschool student enrollment is really growing. In the fall 2013, we had 118 students. Today, we have 274 students. Of the 274 students, 220 are enrolled at LSC-Creekside. The remaining are enrolled at LSC-Tomball campus.”
Clark went on to point out that the classes students will be able to sign up for are typically the core classes students must take, such as English, math, and government.
“New and returning homeschool students are welcome to attend,” Clark stressed, before adding, “We’re very excited about this event. Come out and meet other homeschool families, receive pre-registration information, and enjoy yourself.”
