Sign up to perform or just come to enjoy an evening of performance poetry at Lone Star College-CyFair’s 2017 Poetry Slam set April 6.
“We’re excited to have Stevens Orozco from Truth2Power emceeing our annual Poetry Slam held in celebration of National Poetry Month,” said Carolina Ruiz, professor of English. “Be prepared for a rowdy atmosphere where performers can rise up and speak their mind as we celebrate the freedom of expression on one stage, with many voices, where artistic verbal creations compete for prizes.”
Community and college slam poets will “bring their ‘A’ game and leave the fluff at home” as they compete and entertain audiences with poems in styles that typically range from vibrant, hip hop style to serene rhythm and rhyme.
This event, intended for mature audiences as some poems may contain adult material, is set for 7 p.m. Thursday, April 6 in the Main Stage Theatre at 9191 Barker Cypress.
