Providing some personal perspective on Frontline’s Documentary: Dropout Nation, don’t miss “An Evening with Brandi Brevard” Oct. 5 at Lone Star College-CyFair.
Addressing a national issue of thousands of teens quitting high school without diplomas, the documentary investigates causes, challenges and potential solutions while following four Sharpstown High School students in crisis for a semester as well as the teachers, counselors and principal helping get them to graduation.
LSC-CyFair’s Associate of Arts in Teaching (AAT) Department kicks off the fall Education Speaker Series with Brevard, who was featured in the documentary for her passion and dedication to her students and unconventional methods for reaching and encouraging students.
A former teacher and current principal, Brevard will discuss her experiences in the field of education, particularly working with at-risk students when she served as the Assistant Principal of Sharpstown High School.
This event will be held from 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. in the Technology Building, room 102 at 9191 Barker Cypress.
