Children from three Klein ISD grade schools are off to a better school year thanks to two Professional Staff Support Associations at Lone Star College-University Park.
The PSSA chapters for LSC’s System Office and LSC-University Park, both headquartered in facilities at State Highway 249 and Louetta Road, spent summer months gathering every kind of school supply imaginable including pencil boxes, glue, rulers, binders folders and crayons to help young learners at Benfer, Zwink and Mittlestadt Elementary Schools.
“We wanted every child to have a great year, and our staff members know that not every family has the means to purchase school supplies,” said LSC-University Park President Shah Ardalan. “This is just one way that our College and System employees make a difference in our community.”
Joy Aman, president of the PSSA System Office chapter, said, “When we delivered the supplies, everyone was smiling. We know our efforts are truly appreciated.”
Sony Simon, president of the PSSA chapter at the College, said it is all about providing support for those who may need it the most. “We help LSC-University Park students have a good start to the school year, and we wanted to pass that on to children in Klein ISD,” she said.
Klein ISD Superintendent Bret A. Champion said the donations would make a difference. “We want to thank both groups from Lone Star College-University Park for their gifts and for their support. Lone Star College’s kindness and generosity make a difference,” he said.
