Interested in travel, fine arts, making new friends, exploring the past and trying new activities? Join Lone Star College-CyFair’s Academy for Lifelong Learning (A.L.L.) designed for active adults 50 and better.
Get a program overview at the A.L.L. Open House, which will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, Aug. 19 in the Conference Center on the campus at 9191 Barker Cypress.
“Join this unique community of students, for whom learning never goes out of style,” said Cheryl LeJune, A.L.L. chair. “There is enrichment, fellowship and something for everyone with more than 80 classes, day trips and social activities offered each semester.”
Some new classes on the fall schedule are "Traveling with Grandkids", a geographical and archaeological "Tour of the Big Island of Hawaii", and several classes on the historical and political aspects of Election 2016.
Among the returning A.L.L. favorites are woodworking and other craft classes, cooking and AARP Driver Safety, just to name a few.
An annual membership fee of $20 allows members to attend most classes free (with some requiring only a nominal event, supply or entrance fee.)
Other benefits of membership include use of the college fitness center and discounts at plays, concerts, movies and restaurants in the area.
