Lone Star College-CyFair’s Center for Civic Engagement hosts an April 25 discussion on understanding and protecting one’s rights in America.
Join the discussion “The Best Offense is a Good Defense: Understanding and Protecting Your Individual Rights in America” with panelists Danny Norris, Associate Director, Thurgood Marshall School of Law Library, Texas Southern University; Andre Evans, Criminal Defense Attorney and a representative from the American Civil Liberties Union.
“Many citizens don’t know their rights when approached by law enforcement officials or when they find themselves the victim of unscrupulous business practices or defective consumer goods,” said John Duerk, Center for Civic Engagement coordinator at LSC-CyFair. “This panel discussion will inform students about how they can better protect themselves as we continually strive to improve political, social and economic conditions in our democratic republic.”
The community is welcome to join the discussion set for 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. in the Center for Academic and Student Affairs (CASA) room 110 on the LSC-CyFair campus at 9191 Barker Cypress.
