It is rodeo month in Houston and Lone Star College-University Park’s Undies RoundUP is in full swing.
The College hopes to collect 5,000 pairs of new, packaged underwear for disadvantaged students in the Klein Independent School District.
LSC-University Park President Shah Ardalan said Klein ISD Education Foundation administrators identified undies for preschool through high school students as an unmet need. “Once a need was identified, our faculty and staff initiated another way to show their strong support and partnership with Klein ISD and our community. It is amazing to see how quickly LSC-University Park has become this community’s college.”
Cindy Doyle, director of Community Relations and Education Foundation for the Klein ISD Education Foundation, said, “We are thrilled with LSC–University Park’s Undies RoundUP campaign. It is so uplifting to know that LSC-UP faculty, staff and students are committed to collecting items for our students of need that most of us take for granted. Thank you Lone Star College – University Park for choosing to make a difference for the students in Klein ISD!”
In an effort to support the Undies RoundUP project, Klein ISD has jumped on board and will participate with collection boxes in Klein ISD’s Central Office, the Multipurpose Center, Instruction Center, Klein Forest High School and the Klein ISD Police Department. The drive continues through Friday, April 15.
Christina Robinson, chief strategist for Innovation at LSC-University Park, said the drive is part of the College’s ongoing effort to build and support communities. “Our Undies RoundUP follows our successful 9-1-1 Bears campaign,” she said. “Both of these outreach projects benefit children directly, and we plan to make them annual events.”
