Lone Star College has named Amos McDonald and Helen Clougherty as vice chancellors. McDonald will serve as vice chancellor of Government and Public Relations. Clougherty will serve as vice chancellor and chief of staff.
“I am delighted that Amos is joining Lone Star College,” said Dr. Stephen C. Head, LSC chancellor. “I have known him for a number of years in his various leadership capacities and know he will be a strong asset to Lone Star College.
“I am also pleased that Helen’s role is expanding. Her dedication has been critical to the success of Lone Star College,” Head said.
McDonald will lead Government Relations, Community and Government Leadership Development, the North Houston Regional Center for Economic Development, the LSC Small Business Development Center, and the LSC Foundation. McDonald recently served as BBVA Compass senior vice president, leading a team of 225 employees in 28 locations and $2 billion in assets. McDonald has also served as a vice president for JPMorgan Chase.
McDonald is the immediate past chair of the Montgomery County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and an advisory board member for the LSC Small Business Development Center, Memorial Hermann, The Woodlands Hospital and Montgomery County Junior Achievement.
"The opportunity to educate people on the important role Lone Star College plays in our community is very important to me,” said McDonald. “I look forward to continuing the mission of Lone Star College, helping students succeed and keeping our community strong.”
Clougherty has been promoted to vice chancellor and chief of staff. Clougherty will continue to lead board relations and the Organizational Development Department and adds oversight of the LSC Marketing and Communications Department, charged with the development of LSC marketing, and internal and external communications.
“I am grateful in having this new opportunity to help Lone Star College grow and make a real difference in people’s lives,” said Clougherty.
