Science writer Kayt Sukel discusses her newest book “The Art of Risk: The New Science of Courage, Caution and Chance” at 10 a.m. March 30 at Lone Star College-CyFair
As part of LSC-CyFair’s free Learning, Inspiration, Fellowship and Enrichment (L.I.F.E.) programs, Sukel will share how neuroscience and psychology impact risk-taking behaviors and decision-making in work, love and life.
At KaytSukel.com, fellow authors’ testimonials say Sukel’s book “probes the never-ending push-pull struggle within our brains” between being safe and willing to take chances; provides “insight into the research and minds of thrill seekers, adventurers and high-risk professionals to answer once and for all: when is it worth the risk?” and “is a road map for understanding boldness” related to taking risks which are important in daily decisions, too.
A book signing will follow this morning discussion with Sukel, who, according to her bio “has no problem tackling interesting (and often taboo) subjects spanning love, sex, neuroscience, travel and politics.” Copies of the book will be available for purchase.
L.I.F.E. programs are free and held Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the library (Room 131 unless otherwise noted) at 9191 Barker Cypress.
