Several Lone Star College-CyFair students received Didwell-Liebling Opportunity Scholarships for 2015-2016.
"Our scholarship students continue to inspire us by their good grades and their perseverance to obtain an education," said Marian Liebling, who along with her husband Scott established this scholarship in 2012 in honor of their parents and family.
"I tell the students that all we ask of them in return, is that they use their education and energies to give back to their community when they are done," said Scott Liebling.
Fall 2015 recipients included Vu Nguyen, Andrea Nucete and Robert Caldwell, while the Spring 2016 recipients are Anabel Leo-Lim, Ya Xing Li, Marie Rehman and Daniel Varela.
Leo-Lim was awarded the Patrick Morris Memorial Scholarship established in memory of a benefactor and friend to education.
Li, a member of the LSC Honors College, was awarded the James Brown Memorial Scholarship. This new scholarship is in honor of the Professor Brown who passed in September 2015. He not only taught Political Science and Government at LSC-CyFair from 2009 to 2012, but also served as Department Chair for Political Science during that time.
“Professor Brown lived his life with understanding and concern for all humanity,” said Marian. “It is in keeping with his life’s values we established this special scholarship.”
