Join the Houston Dance Theatre for a magical afternoon with characters from “The Nutcracker” ballet during the "Tea with the Sugar Plum Fairy" at Lone Star College-University Park on Sunday, Dec. 6.
A limited number of tickets remain for $25 each at LoneStar.edu/UP-SugarPlum. The event, which is a fundraiser for the college’s Fine Arts Department, begins at 2 p.m. in West Dining at LSC-University Park, 20515 State Highway 249 (SH 249 and Louetta Road).
“Tea with the Sugar Plum Fairy” will feature excerpts from E.T.A. Hoffman's fairy tale, "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King" and dances from the classic holiday ballet inspired by the story.
Before the performance,
guests will enjoy hot chocolate, tea, sandwiches, holiday cookies, sweets and
other delights, served at festive tables in a winter wonderland.
Afterward, the dancers will take photos with guests and sign autographs on mementos guests bring with them -- anything from toe shoes to Christmas ornaments.
Christina Robinson, LSC-University Park’s Chief Strategist for Innovation, said the event would make a great family outing.
“Children will love meeting the Sugar Plum Fairy, Clara, and the Nutcracker Prince,” Robinson said. “This promises to be a truly memorable experience to kick off the holiday season.”
The tea is open to anyone ages 3 and older. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
