Usher in the holiday season by taking a child or a child at heart to "Tea with the Sugar Plum Fairy," at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 6, in West Dining at LSC-University Park. This delightful afternoon features excerpts read from E.T.A. Hoffman's fairy tale, "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King" followed by the corresponding dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy that the story inspired.
Tickets are $25 each and can be purchased at LoneStar.edu/UP-SugarPlum.
Professor Lisa Hill and others from newly minted fine arts programs are planning a magical afternoon.
"Faculty from our Fine Arts departments are
committed to making this event a cherished annual tradition," she
said.
This will be the 33rd year that ballet dancers from the Houston Dance Theatre have delighted old and young alike with performances of the full-length production of "The Nutcracker." Excerpts from the holiday classic promise to be just as engaging.
Before the performance, guests will enjoy hot chocolate, tea sandwiches, holiday cookies, sweets and other delights, served at festive tables fitting for high tea with princes and princesses.
"We want this to become a holiday tradition for the community and our LSC-University Park family," said Christina Robinson, LSC-University Park's Chief Strategist for Innovation. Proceeds will benefit the College's new Fine Arts Department.
Autograph and photo sessions are scheduled after the performance.
