Lone Star College-Montgomery’s Discovery College, a fun and exciting enrichment program for youth, with weekly camps beginning Monday, June 15, and running through Thursday, July 16.
Discovery College provides students ages 7-12 an opportunity to build their talents or develop new interests through a variety of one- or two-week class sessions that take place Monday through Thursday, from 1-5 p.m., at the LSC-Montgomery campus.
Knowledgeable instructors include faculty, local teachers, professional artists, and more, and they encourage hands-on participation in a variety of subjects formatted for age-appropriate groups. The instructors make learning fun, and the relaxed, creative atmosphere allows students to develop new skills and meet new friends in a safe environment.
Some of the unique educational sessions include Clay and Sculpture, Real Math for Real Life, Junior Meteorologist, and LEGO Engineering, all of which use team-building exercises to let students develop situational awareness and learn practical life skills.
“This year we are focusing on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) related courses,” said Patricia Chandler, interim director of continuing education at LSC-Montgomery. “We are excited that many of the instructors from last year will be returning this year, in addition to our popular camp director, Michael Robinson.”
