According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the increasing demand for electricians and electrical technologists will continue with faster than average job growth over the next few years. In response to this demand, Lone Star College-Tomball is now offering an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree and a Level 2 certification as an electrical technologist. “For several years now, LSC-Tomball has offered a residential and commercial electrician certificate as well as marketable skills awards in solar photovoltaic, fuel cell, and wind turbine systems. The new AAS Electrical Technology degree and the Level 2 certificate is a logical step to meet the growing demands in this field,” said Tony Bom, professor of engineering technology at LSC-Tomball.
The program combines classroom studies and hands-on applications in high-tech laboratories that mirror real-world situations. The core courses also transfer to a variety of colleges and universities, an additional benefit for students who desire to pursue a bachelor’s degree. Classes begin August 25.
Registration is going on now for all classes. Current and recently enrolled students can register online at LoneStar.edu/registration or at any Lone Star College location. New students can apply for admission online at LoneStar.edu/admissions. A complete listing of upcoming classes is available at LoneStar.edu/class-search.
