Lone Star College System has won the 2013 Education Excellence Award from the Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce.
This award is presented to honor an individual, organization or company that has made education and awakening minds a priority.
“We feel our faculty and staff do a terrific job of preparing our citizens for careers and for life, and it is always nice to know they are appreciated for their good work,” said Ray Laughter, LSCS vice chancellor for external affairs. “We are proud to be part of the fabric of our community.”
The 2013 Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce Volunteer and Business Achievement Awards recognize outstanding women and businesses that have gone “above and beyond” in their commitment to the chamber and the community.
The award was presented during the Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce Volunteer Awards Luncheon held Jan. 29 at the Westin Galleria. The event also honored outstanding volunteers and included the induction of the GHWCC Board of Directors.
“The Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce is proud to recognize Lone Star College with our 2013 Education Excellence Award, for its dedication to our community’s economic development that begins with an educated workforce,” said Suzan Deison, GHWCC president and founder. “We also salute Lone Star College’s leadership, especially Vice Chancellor Ray Laughter for his commitment to area chambers of commerce. He has been a valued mentor to many chamber executives, including me.”
