Are you looking for a career in the medical field? Beginning in October, the Certified Nurse Aide Certificate (C.N.A.) program will be offered at Lone Star College-Victory Center. The classes at LSC-Victory Center offer a new, convenient location for students to take advantage of Lone Star College System’s history as a proven provider of successful C.N.A. training.
The C.N.A. program at LSC-Victory Center is a fast-track program that can be completed in as little as eight weeks. The program provides students with the knowledge and essential skills needed to offer basic care to residents of long-term care facilities. Upon program completion, students take the Texas Nurse Aide State Exam for certification.
The first session of fall day classes (8 a.m. to noon) will begin October 7 and run through November 11. Evening classes (5 p.m. to 9 p.m.) will take place October 22 through December 17.
“Throughout the Lone Star College System, our students have a 95 percent pass rate on the C.N.A. exam,” said Kenya Crawford, director of continuing education at Lone Star College-North Harris. “The C.N.A. certification is in high-demand, with many job openings. There are opportunities available for entry-level employment in long-term care facilities, and additional course work can be taken to prepare for a job as a Patient Care Technician in a hospital,” she added.
The job outlook for a Certified Nurse Aide is expected to increase 20 percent by 2020, with an average income of $24,000 a year. Incomes may vary depending on job position.
