Anyone interested in upgrading their job skills, training for a new career, or starting on a bachelor’s degree is encouraged to enroll in fall semester classes at Lone Star College-University Park.
Fall semester classes start Monday, Aug. 26. Tuition for 12 credit hours starts at $704.
“LSC-University Park offers one location with many opportunities,” said Shah Ardalan, president of LSC-University Park. “At LSC-University Park, we work closely with area employers in a wide variety of different fields to ensure we are teaching the exact skills needed in the workplace.”
New course offering for the fall include: Intro to Chemistry, General Chemistry I, Mechanics and Heat (Advanced Physics), Microbiology, Human Resource Management, Principles of Marketing, Intro to Engineering, Computer Programming and more.
LSC-University Park has concentrated on creating more options for students who need to juggle family and job responsibilities. “ We are trying to open doors to a college education for students by increasing the level of flexibility with online and evening classes as well as adding on-site child care,” said Ardalan.
In July, The YMCA’s Children’s Academy at University Park opened its doors to assist the needs of students looking for quality child care while they were attending school.
“Through the Lone Star College Learn and Play option, our students can drop off their children, ages 3-12, while they attend classes on campus for a mere $5 per hour,” said Ardalan. “We are trying to remove every barrier from our students ability to learn.”
“One of the more popular aspects of attending LSC-University Park is the cost savings students can realize by starting here, often times saving many thousands of dollars compared to starting at a four-year campus,” Ardalan explained.
LSC-University Park is also home to the LSC-University Center at University Park. The LSC-University Centers offer junior, senior and graduate level classes through partnerships with several universities. Students who enroll with one of our partner universities are able to complete a bachelor's or master's degree (or teaching certificate) without traveling to the university campuses.
Together with our University Partners, LSC-University Park offers more than 80 certificates, associates, bachelor's and master’s degrees.
