Broadway comes to LSC-Tomball February 21-23, 7:30 p.m., with the drama department production of “I Never Sang for My Father” in the Performing Arts Center. 

This moving and perceptive work, by one of our most distinguished playwrights (Robert Anderson), probes into the disquieting alienation that can exist between father and son — and which time and old age can only deepen — despite the best intentions of both.

The play tells the story of Gene Garrison, a New York professor who wants a change in his life (and plans to achieve it by marrying and relocating to California); his mother, who is sympathetic to his needs; his sister, who was disowned; and his controlling father.

The production has the added aspect of being LSC-Tomball’s entry into the 2012 ?2013 Texas Community College Speech & Theatre Association (TCCSTA) State Play Festival (this year hosted by Lone Star College-Tomball on February 27 - March 2, 2013).

“This is an intimate show about family. We are very excited about working on it and performing it for the community and for the state festival.  I am always very proud of my students and how hard they work,” said professor and director of theatre Sherri White.

Tickets are $15 for the general public, $12 for senior citizens and LSCS employees, $8 for 18 years old and younger, and $5 for students. Tickets may be purchased online here.
