Lone Star College-CyFair’s Cy-Fest 8 community event is right around the corner, so mark the calendar for Saturday, Oct. 13 and come from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to celebrate this eighth annual day of free festivities and family fun. Last year’s event drew near 16,000 to this event held on the Barker Cypress campus at West Road. Among the featured activities are petting zoo, pumpkin patch, face painting, duck races, pony carousel, carnival rides, moonwalks and more. In addition, community members can also receive information on area non-profit organizations, learn about the college offerings and enjoy the Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department’s annual Fire Fest (at Station 11 located on West Road adjacent to LSC-CyFair.) “The energy and enthusiasm of our employees, students and community members involved in this event is a reflection of our community as a whole to the commitment we all have to making Cy-Fair a wonderful place to live, work and raise our families,” said LSC-CyFair’s College Relations Executive Director Michelle Tran. “Our sincere thanks go to many local businesses and community partners who donate resources and volunteer time to this free event that has been drawing thousands of smiles since 2005.” Among the 2012 Cy-Fest event sponsors are: All-Star Martial Arts, Bank of America, Cy-Fair Federal Credit Union, Cy-Fair Magazine, Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center, Follett, Friends of the Library at Lone Star College-CyFair; H-E-B, Kids R Kids, Liberty Mutual Insurance, Nightlight Pediatrics, North Cypress Medical Center, Qdoba Mexican Grill, State Farm - Joel Muller, St. Luke’s Hospital at The Village and Towne Lake.
