The rock opera “Evita” is coming to Lone Star College-CyFair this fall with open auditions from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20 in the Main Stage Theatre.
“Our music and theatre departments are teaming up to present the unforgettable true story of Eva Perón’s rise to power as Argentina’s First Lady and advocate for the poor,” said Alex Qian, LSC-CyFair’s artistic director of vocal activities. “We are seeking emerging professional middle school, high school and college students to be a part of our amateur volunteer production of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Tony Award-winning musical.”
Multiple roles are available for ages 6 and older with some principal roles expected to be double cast. All actors will be asked to sing a song from a Broadway show. An accompanist will be provided; however, actors should bring their own sheet music and dress appropriately for movement.
Music rehearsals are set to begin Sept. 27 with performances scheduled for Nov. 2 - Nov. 3 and Nov. 9 – Nov. 11 in the Main Stage Theatre at 9191 Barker Cypress.
