HOUSTON (July 2, 2012) – The Lone Star College System Small Business Development Center has announced the addition of a new consultant.
Jan Koenig joins the center as a senior consultant and comes to the SBDC with 30-plus years of experience in finance, education, and entrepreneurship – including a period when he owned his own business.
“We are pleased to be able to hire someone of Jan’s caliber,” said Sal Mira, executive director for the LSCS SBDC. “His experience will be extremely valuable to our mission and I encourage the small-business owners in our area to contact Jan.”
Koenig received his bachelor of industrial engineering degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology and his master’s degree in business administration from Harvard University.
Koenig moved to Houston in 1978 after receiving his MBA. From 2003 to 2011, he owned and operated a multi-location franchise business operation, during which time he successfully developed two new territories and acquired two other existing operations.
Prior to becoming a business owner, Mr. Koenig held senior management positions with Nations Bank (now Bank of America) and with Compass Bank (now BBVA Compass). He also has taught courses in entrepreneurship and small business management as an adjunct faculty member at Houston Community College. He can be reached at jan.koenig@LoneStar.edu
