Published on: April 27, 2012
Lone Star College-Montgomery’s Performing Arts Center is calling college students and community members to audition for the college’s summer musical production of Piers Chater Robinson’s Peter Pan The Musical. Auditions for singers and dancers will take place on Tuesday, May 29, at 4 p.m., in the Mainstage Theatre in the college’s Performing Arts Center (Building D).
Those auditioning should prepare and memorize 16 bars from a Broadway musical. Please bring sheet music, as an accompanist will be provided, and there will be no a capella auditions.
Singing auditions are by appointment and will begin at 4:00 p.m. (Walk-ins are welcome as time allows.) Dance auditions will begin at 6:00 p.m. Everyone who auditions will need to participate in both the singing and dance auditions.
Those selected for the cast and crew must enroll in Drama 1120 (Theatre Practicum).
Peter Pan is a tale that never ages. Children and adults alike have fallen under the spell of Neverland, a place where children can fly and exciting, frightening adventures happen every day.
In 1985, Piers Chater Robinson adapted J.M. Barrie’s book for the stage, and now, 25 years later, his innovative Peter Pan musical score is well known, loved, and performed worldwide. The ever-popular characters are still there—Peter Pan, Wendy, John, Michael, the dastardly Captain Hook and his sidekick Smee, Tiger Lily, the Lost Boys, pirates, Neverland indians, fairies, Nana the pet dog and, of course, that scary crocodile.
Performance dates for Peter Pan The Musical are scheduled for Thursday, July 12, through Saturday, July 14, at 7:30 p.m. each evening; and Saturday, July 14, at 2 p.m. Plus, on Wednesday, July 11, there will be a free preview for all LSC-Montgomery faculty, staff, and students.
Individual tickets for this performance are $15 (general admission), $10 (seniors), and $7 (students). Tickets can be purchased at www.mycommunityevents.com.
