Mark the calendar March 31 to join the Lone Star College-CyFair’s Concert Choir in a cultural afternoon with the World Music Series presentation of songs from “A Dream of Red Mansions.”
Alex Qian, LSC-CyFair’s artistic director of vocal activities, and his talented Concert Choir tell a heartbroken love story from Qing Dynasty of China featuring Cao Xue Qin’s lyrics and Wang Li Ping’s music.
“This opera with Chinese lyrics will be a wonderful cultural experience for the entire family,” said Qian. “It’s been an exciting opportunity for our students to learn a language, the big picture of China’s history and its related culture from the Qing Dynasty.”
Through the songs of this beautiful concert, audiences will learn, as the students have, about the dress, instrumentation and daily life and emotions of the people of this period in time.
LSC-CyFair’s Windows on the World is sponsoring the 3 p.m. Saturday performance held in the Main Stage Theatre in the Center for the Arts building at 9191 Barker Cypress.
Tickets are $15 for general admission and $10 for seniors. Group discounts are available. LSC students and employees receive complimentary admission with a valid ID.
