Lone Star College-CyFair’s Center for the Arts Spring 2012 schedule of events not only showcases talented student and community artists, actors, vocalists and musicians, but also serves as a cultural asset in the Cy-Fair community.
The Center for the Arts building houses the Bosque Gallery, a teaching art gallery featuring exhibitions of student, faculty, local and national artists, as well as the state-of-the art Main Stage Theatre and the Black Box Theatre for performing arts events.
Among the highlights of the spring season are the biennial Houston photography exhibition “Fotofest” March 20 through April 5 and Tony Award-winning Broadway hit “The Phantom of the Opera” April 27 through May 6 featuring LSC-CyFair Opera and Symphonic Band.
The Bosque Gallery season opens with the talent of Janet Hassinger, a watercolor artist, on display Jan. 31 through March 1 and closes with the end-of-the-semester Student Art Show April 24 through May 3.
The performing arts season inludes theatre performances of “Biloxi Blues” Feb. 23 through March 4 and “Three Postcards” April 12 through April 22; a jazz and guitar ensembles concert “jazzNCompany” March 28 and a World Music Series choral concert “A Dream of Red Mansions” March 31.
