Workforce Solutions will offer two free job search seminars in July at Lone Star College-Tomball Community Library. Intended to give job seekers a competitive edge, these classes are held on the second floor in computer lab room L-207 from 1 to 3 p.m. A resume lab will follow each seminar from 3 to 4 p.m.
The “Creating a Resume/Completing the Application”seminar will be held on Wednesday, July 6. Participants will learn how to fill out thorough, accurate and neat applications and create effective resumes that make their education, skills and experience clear to the employer. The right application and/or resume will determine whether or not an applicant will make the interview pool.
The “Using the Internet” seminar will be held on Wednesday, July 20. Participants will learn how to effectively use the Internet for their job search and increase the visibility of their resume. They will also learn how to develop a list of helpful contacts and create a marketing profile to promote their skills and abilities.
The resume lab that follows these seminars will help participants build a modern, effective resume in Microsoft Word and save it electronically for future use. An experienced trainer will be on hand to assist attendees.
Seating for these classes is limited. For more information or to register for these free job-seeking seminars, call Lone Star College-Tomball Community Library at (832) 559-4211. The library is located off State Highway 249, between the intersections of Baker Drive and Zion Road.
