Mark the calendar now for the original Cy-Fest, an annual day of free food, festivities and family fun, set from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8 at Lone Star College-CyFair.
“I realize there was another Cypress event utilizing the same name earlier this spring and I hope it does not cause any confusion,” said Michelle Tran, college relations director. “Please know this was not the college event.
“Cy-Fest is the college’s gift to the community. It has been and always will be free of charge to the community. Our employees, students and community members donate resources and volunteer time to make this event possible,” said Tran. “Thanks to many local businesses and community partners this free family event with something for all ages has been drawing thousands of smiles since 2005.”
Typical attractions at this event are Radio Disney, petting zoo, moonwalks, face painting and duck races, just to name a few. In addition, there are refreshments and information on available college offerings as well as area non-profit organizations.
“Given the huge success (with more than 13,000 attendees) at last fall’s Cy-Fest, we are announcing the Oct. 8 date for Cy-Fest 7 a little earlier this year so even more local businesses will have the opportunity to get involved in this wonderful family event,” said Tran.
Sponsorship opportunities for Cy-Fest 7, held on the Barker Cypress campus at West Road, will be announced in late May.
