Construction Completed, Doors Open on Brand New Educational Buildings
The 75,000-square-foot General Academic Center is one of the three brand new education buildings recently completed at Lone Star College-Montgomery. The community is invited to see view the new buildings during an open house on Tuesday, February 1.
It’s a new year with new opportunities at Lone Star College-Montgomery, where the construction of three new educational buildings has been completed resulting in an enhanced campus ready to take LSC-Montgomery’s students to new heights.
To celebrate, the community is invited to view the new buildings during an open house celebration on Tuesday, February 1, from 5-7 p.m. The celebration will include campus tours, light refreshments, college program information, giveaways, and more.
“We’re thrilled to literally open the doors of these buildings, offering our students the space and resources needed to accomplish their educational goals,” said Dr. Austin A. Lane, president of LSC-Montgomery. “Since the start of this campus more than 15 years ago, our enrollment has almost quadrupled. This campus-wide expansion meets our immediate needs and prepares us for future growth.”
The three new buildings are a 75,000-square-foot General Academic Center, a cutting-edge Health Science Center, and a Music Hall with both rehearsal and performance space. Overall, the construction increases the size of the campus to almost 60 percent larger than its original size, adding more than 70 classrooms and labs, a 100-seat lecture hall, a 155-seat recital hall, plenty of study and lounge areas for students, and 100 faculty offices.
This expansion, which also includes a five-level parking garage completed in August of 2010 and the recently-opened Lone Star College-Conroe Center, is the result of a $420 million bond passed in 2008 for the entire Lone Star College System.
