Join Lone Star College-CyFair for free festivities and family fun to celebrate the sixth annual Cy-Fest community event set from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9 on the Barker Cypress campus at West Road.
“Right around the corner is Cy-Fest 6, the college’s annual gift to the community and a labor of love that brings our staff, faculty, students and community members together,” said Michelle Tran, college relations director.
Cy-Fest 6 features activities for all ages with a petting zoo, pumpkin patch, face painting, Radio Disney, moonwalks, duck races, a train ride and more. New this year will be the 1st Airborne Adventure and the Adrenaline Rush Obstacle Course.
“The energy and enthusiasm of all involved in this event is a reflection of our community as a whole - the commitment we all have to making Cy-Fair a wonderful place to live, work and raise our families,” said Tran.
At Cy-Fest 6, community members can receive information on area non-profit organizations and learn about the college offerings such as Continuing Education courses, the Academy for Lifelong Learners, study abroad as well as many workforce and academic certificate programs.
The Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department will also hold Fire Fest (at Station 11 located on West Road adjacent to LSC-CyFair) with demonstrations of vehicle extrication rescues, vehicle fire extinguishment, canine search and rescue; Life Flight Helicopter, ladder trucks, photos with firefighters and fire prevention characters, interactive activities, a ride on an antique fire truck and more.
