Debra Grandjean and Jacklyn Thomas, of Houston’s Ernst & Young office, (back row, left to right) coordinated an enormous clothing drive for the young ladies participating in this year’s Upward Bound job shadow program. Upward Bound students Kendra Negron, Virydiana Ramos, Alma Carrizales, Mary Jaquez, Jaleesa Dawkins, Beatriz Orozco and Chenieria Jackson (pictured left to right) were among the students who received a new business wardrobe thanks to the generous donations of Grandjean, Thomas and their colleagues at Ernst & Young.
Upward Bound is a college preparatory program funded by the U.S. Department of Education. Lone Star College-North Harris has offered the program to Aldine Independent School District high school students since 1999. Participants receive a variety of services that build upon the necessary skills, which are needed for success in higher education and throughout life.
